Fertility

So, I forgot to post about our visit with the fertility doctor. The verdict is: 4 more tries (4 more months) with insemination and then on to in-vitro (which is about $11,000 by the way - yes you read that right!). Yikes!

From Work...

Okay, so I'm at work right now. Don't worry, I not using company time to blog. I'm actually on my lunch break. I just thought I'd sneak in a quick post. It's going to be a busy weekend, and I'm not sure how much time I'll have.

Tomorrow we are going to the farmer's market in the morning, since we really need produce. Then I'm going to tackle some ironing and maybe clean part of my sewing room. The we are having company over. One of Jerrod's friends from high school is in town from Colorado, and he hasn't seen her in ages. After we visit with her, I'm going to the Trey McIntyre Dance Project with another of Jerrod's high school friends while her husband and little boy hang out with Jerrod. (I just can't imagine why the guys don't want to go see men in tights waltzing around on stage!)

Sunday I'm determined to go to church in the morning. I haven't gone regularly in ages, and I'm determined to try again. Then I think we are going to go out on the lake. Our friends are taking their boat out, and we're going to go hang out with them. All in all, it sounds productive and fun-filled, but a little crazy and hectic. How about you? What are you up to this weekend?

So You Think You Can.... What?

So, I'm forcing my hubby to watch So You Think You Can Dance. He just loves it! (Can't you just hear the sarcasm...) Must be my lucky night! :)

Why Don't I Feel Like Doing Anything?

So, I really should be spending some quality time hanging out with the hubby, but instead, I'm checking the blogs. What is wrong with this picture? I'm exhausted and should never have sat down, that's what. I had coffee with a friend this morning (gotta love Starbuck's), went to the doctor, then came home and ate lunch and cleaned the house. I have a pile of ironing waiting for me that I'm trying to avoid. It's 90 degrees outside, and I could very well be out there enjoying the sunshine and doing something fun and/or productive, but instead I'm sitting here on the computer. Oh, I'm ambitious, aren't I? :)

Fun, Fun, Funny

So, I'm a little late for Life is Funny this week, but I don't care! Is your life funny?

So, my life is really boring, but we went up to the cabin this weekend with the whole family. My in-laws, my BIL, SIL, a family friend, etc. were all there. Late one night, we decided to play a rousing game of Spades. Well, I'm pretty sure that my BIL and the family friend are card sharks when it comes to that game, but nevermind. That's a whole different story - but if anyone wants to know the secrets, I'm sure they're the ones to ask. Towards the end of the first game, my husband and I got into an argument about differing styles of playing the game. Hint: NEVER, under any circumstances, partner with your spouse while playing competitive card games! Later that evening my BIL and SIL got into an argument over the game. That's when the family friend threw up his hands and said, "That's it! We're not playing spades ever again. It causes too many marital conflicts!" Yes, folks, that's right - we are banned for life. So don't even ASK me to play spades again 'cause it's off limits!

House Update, er, Up-don't

So, I didn't have time to post before we left for the cabin for the holiday weekend, but apparently we are not going to be moving. We were originally supposed to close on that new house on Thursday of last week, but the loan was taking a little longer to get together than we originally thought it would. We asked the owner for an extension of a couple weeks (which our real estate agent assured us was perfectly normal and happens all the time). The owner went berserk and canceled the transaction. Yes, folks, she's crazy. I can't remember if I said that already or not. She owned a lot of money on the house and had multiple liens on it. I'm not sure what's wrong with her brain, but the ending is pretty clear.

Jerrod is certain that if we can't buy a house in this lousy market (this is the 2nd one we've put offers on) that God is trying to tell us something. He's very at peace with the idea of just staying in our house for now. I'm not sure I feel the same way, but at least I don't have to deal with home remodeling. I was just looking forward to the character of a cool old house. It makes me want to remodel my current one (or at least put hardwood floors throughout, which is not going to happen until the carpet wears out - how long does carpet usually last anyway?).

Nothing to Say

Okay, so I don't know how my fellow bloggers come up with so much to post about. I have trouble managing a few posts a week, while they are on every day, sometimes multiple times a day. Between email, MySpace, Facebook, and posting/reading blogs, I feel like I live on the internet. But I never seem to get caught up! :)

I thought I'd ramble for awhile though since I'm waiting for the finale performance of American Idol to buffer. I've about had it with our satellite company. Quite often when we use the DVR, the recording isn't very good. And I've missed the performance episode of American Idol the last 2 weeks, because the signal went out. Argh!

Last week I had a much younger, more internet-proficient friend with me who download the show, and we were able to watch it. This week, on top of a sketchy satellite, we have slow internet. My husband called the company, and I think we got it fixed, but I was about ready to throw the computer across the room yesterday, because it was taking entirely too long to buffer the show, and I couldn't watch the stupid thing. It's better today, and I'm 2/3 of the way through it, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it'll work.

Ryan Seacrest did mention, however, that the finale would go past the time, so I'm going to have to look on YouTube for the ending. I didn't know this would be a problem until after it had finished recording, or I would have fixed it. (This is because I couldn't watch the FIRST episode due to the above mentioned dilemmas.) Argh again!

And, finally, my sister-in-law sent me a text telling me who won AS SOON AS THE EPISODE WAS OVER!!! As if I ever watch TV in real time. I swear when I see her, I'm gonna beat her up for ruining the ending for me! I'm still determined to watch the whole thing, however, even if it kills me - and at this rate it might! :)

Oh, I almost forgot...it's funny!

It's time again for Life is Funny at Weight... What? Tell us how funny your life is. Come on, we're dying to know!

So, on Mother's Day we were playing Bocce Ball. Please see this post if you'd like to know what in the world that is! Anyway, the balls are VERY heavy. You take turns throwing them one direction, then you have to go walk and pick them up. I know, I know, who comes up with this stuff. Kind of like golf - you hit a ball with a stick and then go chasing it around!
Anyway, when you go to pick up these heavy things, it's easier to toss them back to the start than to try to carry them all. Well, my brother-in-law (who is usually very sweet by the way), actually pegged me in the leg with one of these suckers! It hit me in the calf of my right leg and bounced into the back/side of my left knee (which thankfully is my GOOD knee!). My calf is perfectly fine, but a few days later I took this picture of the nice bruise on the back of my knee. It was actually much more black in color a day or two before, but I forgot to take a picture.

It wouldn't be funny if it looked much worse than it is. It doesn't hurt (except if I hit it on something). And my brother-in-law feels terrible, so of course I have to rub it in every chance I get. Don't you just love family? :)

Sunday Meme

Okay, so I'm a sucker for a good Meme. My blogger friend Alison got her Meme "stolen" for this sight callled Sunday Stealing, so I thought I'd participate. Here it is:

Sunday Stealing: The 29'er Meme

1. What bill do you hate paying the most?
The credit card bill - why oh why did I buy so much junk? :)

2. Where was the last place you had a romantic dinner?
At home

3. How many colleges did you attend?
Three

4. Why did you choose the shirt that you have on right now?

5. First thought when the alarm went off this morning?
There was no alarm, but my husband woke me up, and I probably thought, "It's time to get up already?"

6. Last thought before going to sleep last night?
I have no idea.

7. What do you miss from being a child?
The lack of responsibility. Being bored because there was LITERALLY nothing to do - or at least nothing that HAD to be done...

The better question would be, which one do I enjoy? But I'll stick with the original question and say dishes.

9. Have you found real love yet?
Yes

10. What do you get every time you go into Wal-Mart?
I refuse to go into Wal-Mart. Sorry Dad!

11. Do you think marriage is an outdated ritual?
No, but I think that too many people feel this way.

Leonardo DiCaprio - just so I can stare at him and drool...

13. Ever had to use a fire extinguisher for its intended purpose?
No

14. Somewhere in California you've never been and would like to go?
Is there somewhere in California where I haven't been? I feel like I've seen the whole state, but I guess I'll say Fort Bragg.

A new career. I have too many single friends, and I'm SO glad I don't have to deal with that anymore!

Me

17. Are you where you want to be in life?
Except for having kids, yes.

18. Over the years, what about you do you think has changed the most?
I think I've grown up a lot. And I have gained some cooking skills!

Not at all.

20. Are there times you still feel like a kid?
Rarely

21. Where was the hang out spot when you were a teenager?
Red Robin, Palmer Park

Yes.

25. What is the scariest thing that has happened to you as an adult?
Probably just realizing how fast life is going.

26. What advice would you give to someone about to get married?
Don't go into this thinking that it's all roses and lollipops. It's hard work sometimes, but I promise it's all worth it. Oh, and don't make assumptions or jump to conclusions. That's bound to cause problems and misunderstandings.

27. What advice would you give someone starting their first job?
Always do your best, and don't be afraid to ask questions.

28. If you could go back and change one thing you did, what would it be?
Probaby say, "I'm sorry" more.

29. If you could go back and change one thing someone else did, what would it be?
Um, I don't like to think about changing things. Everything we do makes us who we are.

Bye-bye Tulips

I am mourning the end of the tulips at my house. They are not looking as pretty as they did in the pictures above. I'm sad about this. Tulips are my favorite. I know they'll be back next year, but it's such a long time to wait!

A Friday Funny - Our Big Project

Um, is it too early to post pictures of the money pit that we don't even own yet? No? Good. I thought so. Anyway, here it is in all its glory (notice I am using that term loosely). Boy, what are we getting ourselves into?

If all does not go well, this might be me in a few months:

Work on it Wednesday, er Thursday

Okay, so I worked all day Wednesday and am just getting around to figuring out what to type up for Kelli's carnival. This week, I am going to:

  1. Finish my *&*#($@!^)*# spring cleaning. (No there is not a swear word that long that I know of, but I'm really sick of cleaning, so I don't care!)

  2. Schedule a massage to reward myself for all that cleaning. Woo hoo!

Is that enough stuff? I think so!

Ahhhh... clean carpet!

I had to take a picture of my living room now that the carpet is all clean and pretty. The furniture still isn't back in there yet. I'm waiting until it's totally dry, but I'm so happy it's clean. It practically looks brand new. And he did our office, loft, hallway, and master bedroom/closet too. What a wonderful feeling. Yeah!!!!

Learning Patience

So, What I Learned this Week is that nothing goes the way you planned it. I scheduled an oil change for my car at 8AM this morning. That went well. I also got the clock in my car replaced, since it was going off and then back on and not keeping time very well. Of course, the 20 minutes he promised me to fix the clock (after an hour for the oil change) turned into 40 minutes. I can never get out of that place in less than an hour and a half... not sure why!

Then I rushed in and out of Target in 8 minutes. Yes, I know this is amazing, considering my deep love for Target, but I was in a hurry. The carpet cleaning guy was supposed to be at my house at 10. I left the hubby home in case I didn't make it on time, but I wanted to be able to explain what I wanted cleaned and to pick all the shoes up off the closet floor, so he could do a thorough job. Well, the guy calls as I'm driving home (where I arrived at 10:01 by the way) to tell me that his machine is broken, he needs to replace it, and he's running late. He'll be there by 10:30. Well, that's great. That gives me time to pick up a little. Yes, I'm insane, but I at least want to make sure the guy can get to all the carpet that needs cleaning and that I don't have any bras hanging around or something.

So, at 11:30 the guys calls again. He's sorry, his replacement machine wasn't working either, don't know why he didn't call me in that HOUR that he's now late from the time when he was supposed to be late, but he's on his way. He's only 30 minutes away. As I'm typing this, it's 11:40. Do you think the guy will be here by noon??? I think probably not. I think I could have gotten a lot of stuff done while waiting for him instead of just fooling around online. But as long as my filthy carpet is clean by the end of the day, I guess I should call it a success, right?

Negative, Negative

Yep, another negative pregnancy test... Still hoping for something to work. We are scheduled to meet with the doctor in a couple weeks to discuss options, since we have been working with the fertility clinic for 6 cycles now with negative results. We aren't going to try anything this month since we're not sure what the doctor will say. It'll also be a little easier on the budget and stress level that way! I'll keep you posted.

Work on it Wednesdays

Okay, so it's time for Work on it Wednesdays over at 3 Boys and a Dog. My list for today is short, but sweet. I have to work today, so if I manage to accomplish all this, I'll be stoked.
1. Call and schedule an oil change for my car (which is now over-due, bad me!)
2. Call and schedule a carpet cleaning for my filthy carpet!
3. Spring Clean my loft/library area.

I Want to Learn Simplicity

Okay, so I've decided this week, that I need to simplify my life. Yeah, yeah, I know! Everyone thinks this. I've probably said this a million times myself. But seriously, I mean it. Enough is enough. I can't take it anymore. I have so much stuff, and so much stuff to do that it's stressing me out. And my life is calm as clams compared to some. I don't even have kids yet. I need to cut back. I can only do so much. I spend way too much time online and watching TV. I spend not-enough-time reading, cleaning, sewing, gardening, enjoying life. And the in-between stuff goes to running errands and the little bit of cleaning that I do manage to get done. So, let's all say it together, "Live Life Simply". Again.... Okay, good. Now, are you with me?

Life is Funny

Photobucket
So, it's time again for the Life is Funny carnival over at Weight....What? Is your life funny? If so, share it with us! Or check out what other people have to say.

My husband's parents went to Hawaii this last week. They asked us what we wanted them to bring back for us. My husband didn't want to contribute to the collection of junk we own, so he said, "a coconut". Of course, being the people they are, we also got lots of other gifts. But they did manage to bring a coconut back in their suitcase. Yes, people, a real coconut, outer husk and all.

You should have seen the guys trying to open this thing. I wish I could convey how hysterical it was, but I'm not sure I'm going to be able to do it justice. My husband, his father, and a friend were outside (thankfully!). They had to peel the thing first. This part took a good 10 or 15 minutes all by itself. And they handed a piece of the peeled husk to a 6 year old girl who happened to be standing by. She and her 5 year old sister were able to rip this thing in half themselves, yet the guys couldn't manage to pry it off the coconut shell. :)

After this was done, they had to crack it open and try to pry out all the coconut pieces. Now I know why you buy coconut in a bag. And quite frankly, however much they are charging for it in the store is not nearly enough. That stuff is hard work! They were huffing and puffing and grunting and had out a knife, a screwdriver, and a pipe wrench that they used to beat it into submission. All in all, it was successful and miraculously no one was injured, but a word to the wise: don't request a coconut. It might be funny, but I'm not sure it's worth the effort.

Bocce Ball

Okay, so I just learned how to play bocce ball. We were over at my brother-in-law's house because his wife was having a birthday. After 1/2 the people left, we started playing games. The girls stayed inside where it was warm to play card games. The boys decided to go outside and pay bocce ball. Very interesting. Basically you throw a little "jack" ball about the size of a tennis ball. Then you throw big shotput like balls at it and try to get closest. The boys were mad when I started playing, because I kept beating them. Yeah for having good aim! All those years of playing catcher in softball and throwing the ball back to the pitcher sure came in handy. They were playing for the best out of 3, and I came in for the 3rd game. And my team won. Ha, ha, ha! :) Take that boys!

Sassy Hair

So, I got my hair done yesterday...

I was totally bored with it, and it was getting entirely too long for me. I liked the color my stylist did the last time I was in. The highlights were darker, so when it grew out it was much less obvious. She had suggested doing a bob for summer, and I couldn't seem to wait any longer. I toyed around with the idea of bangs, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it. I was afraid I'd hate them and then would have to wait for them to grow out. Honestly, I haven't had bangs since I was 16, and it's probably time to experiment again. Who knows? I am always trying something different with my hair. I can't seem to just keep one style for too long. Actually, I've had the same haircut for several years now, but I keep changing the color! I'm liking the new 'do though and am thinking that it'll be nice and cool when the weather gets hot. Oh, and I took this picture with my computer. I didn't even know that my computer would take pictures, but apparently it does!
